Healthy and Tasty Semolina and Spinach Breakfast: Make Easy and Nutritious Appe at Home
Today we will make a very tasty and healthy breakfast which is prepared with semolina and spinach. This breakfast is not only tasty but also nutritious, and it requires very little oil to make it. Along with this, we have also made a special chutney which will make your breakfast even more tasty. So let’s know the complete recipe of this healthy breakfast!
Required Materials:
for the appe:
- – 1 cup thick semolina
- – ½ cup curd
- – ½ cup water (to soak the semolina)
- – 1 cup finely chopped spinach (blanched)
- – 1 finely chopped green chilli
- – 1 finely chopped carrot
- – 1 finely chopped onion
- – 1 finely chopped capsicum
- – ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- – Salt to taste
- – 2 tbsp oil (to grease the appe pan)
For blanching the spinach:
- – 1 cup spinach leaves (remove stalks)
- – Hot water
- – Ice cold water
For the chutney:
- – ¼ cup raw coconut (grated)
- – 2 teaspoons roasted Bengal gram dal
- – 4-5 green chillies
- – 3-4 cloves of garlic
- – ½ inch piece of ginger
- – ¼ cup coriander leaves
- – Salt to taste
- – ½ cup water (for chutney)
For tempering the chutney:
- – 1 tsp oil
- – ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
- – Some curry leaves
Recipe:
Method for making Semolina Appe:
1. Soaking the semolina: Firstly, take 1 cup of coarse semolina in a vessel. Add ½ cup curd and ½ cup water to it and mix it well. Cover it and keep it for 15 minutes so that the semolina swells.
2. Blanching spinach: Remove the stalk of spinach leaves and blanch them in hot water for 1 minute. After this, immediately put the leaves in ice cold water so that their green color remains intact. Grind the spinach and make a paste.
3. Preparing the semolina batter: After 15 minutes the semolina will swell. Now add some water to it and dilute it. Do not keep the batter too thick. Add finely chopped green chilies, carrots, onions and capsicum to it. Add salt as per taste and mix well. Add ¼ teaspoon baking soda to the batter and mix a little water and whisk it.
4. Palak Appe: Divide the batter into two parts. Add spinach paste to one part. Make plain appe with the other part.
5. Grease the appe pan: Grease the appe pan with a little oil or ghee. Pour the green batter on the sides of the pan and the white batter in the middle molds. Keep the flame low and cover and cook for 2 minutes. After the appe puffs up, flip them and cook until golden on both sides.
Method for making chutney:
1. Grind the chutney ingredients: Add raw coconut, roasted chana dal, green chilies, garlic, ginger, and coriander leaves in a grinding jar. Add salt to taste and some water and make a thick paste.
2. Tadka for chutney: Heat oil in a pan. Prepare the tadka by adding mustard seeds and curry leaves. Add this tadka to the chutney.
Serving Suggestion:
