IMD Weather Forecast: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for an extreme heatwave from March to May 2025. Most parts of the country are expected to experience higher-than-normal temperatures during this period.
Heatwave Risk Increases
According to IMD, severe heatwaves will likely affect northern India, while northeastern and southern regions may experience relatively normal weather conditions.
Weather Changes in North India
Cloudy skies and light showers have been recorded across Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Punjab since Friday morning. The temperature will remain stable for the next 24 hours but is expected to rise by 4-6°C afterward.
Rain Expected in Delhi & Uttar Pradesh
Light rain is forecasted for Delhi on Saturday, with wind speeds of 20-30 km/h. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh is expected to receive rain until March 2.
Storm Warnings for Rajasthan & Northeast
- Thunderstorms with wind speeds of 30-40 km/h are likely in Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Bikaner over the next two days.
- The northeastern states of Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, and Assam may experience hailstorms on March 1.
