F-16 Intercepts Civilian Aircraft in Restricted Airspace Over Trump’s New Jersey Golf Course
Bedminster, NJ – A civilian aircraft that breached the temporary flight restriction zone over President Donald Trump’s golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey, was intercepted by a NORAD F-16 fighter jet on Saturday afternoon, July 5, 2025. Trump was at the location for the holiday weekend.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), a joint U.S.-Canada military organization, confirmed the incident. In a statement on the social media platform X, NORAD said, “NORAD intercepted a plane violating a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) over Bedminster, NJ on July 5, 2025. Pilots, a reminder to check FAA NOTAMs before you fly!”

The breach occurred shortly before 2:40 p.m. ET. The F-16 fighter jet successfully established communication with the pilot of the civilian aircraft and safely escorted it out of the restricted airspace without further incident.
According to reports, this was not an isolated event. NORAD noted that this was the fourth such violation of the day, with another occurring later, bringing the total to five for Saturday.
While NORAD’s official statement did not specify the type of fighter jet involved, several news outlets confirmed it was an F-16.
Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) are commonly established over locations where the President or other high-profile individuals are present to ensure their safety and security. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issues Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) to inform pilots of these restricted zones.
This incident serves as a stark reminder to all pilots of the critical importance of checking for and adhering to all active TFRs. A similar incident occurred in February when NORAD scrambled F-16s in response to an airspace violation over Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
